Stand-up show by Maisie Adam, straight off Taskmaster and A League Of Their Own, at the Hackney Empire.
Maisie Adam brings her new show Whatsherface to the Hackney Empire on Thursday 29 October, starting at 7:30pm. It's her first London date since her run on Taskmaster, and the title comes from a description her best friend's mum gave her at a wedding: 'the tall, chaotic one with the weird hair'.
Adam has become a familiar face on TV lately, appearing on Taskmaster, A League Of Their Own and Last One Laughing, but this is a stand-up show, not a panel appearance. She first tried her hand at comedy in October 2016 in her native North Yorkshire, where she did a full hour for her first ever gig. A couple of months later she entered So You Think You're Funny, the UK's largest stand-up competition, winning the semi-final in Edinburgh and then the final at the end of the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe — only the fourth woman to do so in 30 years.
Her debut show Vague sold out the Gilded Balloon every day, earned a Best Newcomer nomination at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards and won the Amused Moose National New Comic. Since then she's been a regular on Mock the Week, 8 Out of 10 Cats and The Stand Up Sketch Show, and she's described as a comedy natural at the top of her game. Whatsherface is her brand-new show, and the Hackney Empire is one of its London stops.
