Theatrical Halloween walking tour through the City of London that brings to life the ghosts of lesser-known women, from the Monument to Tower Hill.
Magic, Mystics and Martyrs is a new theatrical walk through the City of London, starting at The Monument on Friday 30 October from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. It's built around Shakespeare's Something wicked this way comes, and the timing puts it right in the Halloween window. The route follows the Thames Path, starting at the Monument on Fish Street Hill and finishing at Tower Hill.
Along the way, the tour brings to life the ghosts of the City's lesser-known women: an infamous phantom lady of the Financial district, the notorious Billingsgate fish wives, a prophetess, a satanic noblewoman and a rebellious martyr. The HERstorical tales are interspersed with theatrical surprises, so it's more of a performance than a standard guided walk. The whole thing runs along the river, and the final stop is the Hung, Drawn and Quartered pub — a choice of venue described as gruesomely fitting for the spooky season.

It's a brand-new walk, so this is one of its first outings. The route takes you from the Monument over to Tower Hill, and the drink at the pub comes at the end. Tickets are £20, and booking is required, so you'll need to sort yours in advance rather than turning up on the night. It runs from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, which gives you plenty of time for the walk and a drink afterwards.
