A social after-work networking event with drinks and introductions, followed by salsa dance classes downstairs.
Londoners After Work Drinks-then-Dance takes over Forge Bar on Friday 16 October, starting at 18:00. It's run by the Londoner Circle and hosted by Alex and Hank, and the whole thing is built around the simple idea of a social evening for Londoners — global and local — that kicks off right after work, leaving plenty of time for conversation, drinks and introductions before the night really gets going.
If you're coming on your own, you're in good company. The organisers make a point of introducing anyone who arrives solo, and they welcome friends too, so it works whether you've got a group or you're just turning up to see who else is there. They use high tables and nametags to help keep the conversation moving, which takes a bit of the guesswork out of starting a chat with someone you've never met. It's designed as a low-pressure way to meet people in the city, with the drinks and the introductions taking up the first part of the evening.
Then the night shifts gear. After 19:30, the venue hosts salsa dance classes downstairs, with tickets available from the dance school. So you can spend the early evening chatting and drinking, and then head downstairs for the dancing if you're in the mood for it. It's two different speeds in one night: the social side first, the dancing second.
