Aardman's 50th-anniversary 360° immersive show with Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Morph across the walls and floor of The Lightroom.
Larger Than Life opens at The Lightroom on 19 October, a 360° immersive experience that Aardman put together to mark the studio's 50th anniversary in 2026. It takes over the four 11-metre-high walls and the floor of the King's Cross space, bringing together the sketches, puppets, sets and frame-by-frame labour that go into Aardman's worlds, alongside archive material and newly made animation. The show is a 50-minute loop that runs for about an hour, and there's no allocated seating, so you can move around and watch at your own pace.
The experience follows the studio's half a century of history, from its earliest experiments to some of its most recognisable screen moments, like the runaway train chase from The Wrong Trousers. You'll see Aardman's characters across the decades, including Wallace & Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Morph. It's as much about the process as the finished films: the sketches, the puppets and the painstaking frame-by-frame work that defines their style.
For a bit of context, Aardman was founded by Peter Lord and David Sproxton, who registered the name in 1972 and created Morph for the BBC's Take Hart. Nick Park joined in the 1980s and brought Wallace & Gromit into the fold. Creature Comforts (1989) and The Wrong Trousers (1993) both won Academy Awards, and Shaun the Sheep first appeared in 1995's A Close Shave. Across film and television, the studio has picked up four Academy Awards and 18 BAFTAs.
