David Bowie: You're Not Alone

David Bowie: You're Not Alone is running at The Lightroom in King's Cross through early December, with sessions on 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31 October; 5, 6 and 7 November; 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 November; 26, 27 and 28 November; and 4 and 5 December. Each session starts at 12:30 and lasts about an hour, running on a loop without a fixed beginning or end, so tickets are sold in half-hour slots.

Produced by Lightroom and designed by 59, a Journey studio, the show is directed by Mark Grimmer, Creative Director for the V&A's David Bowie Is exhibition, and Tom Wexler, in close collaboration with the David Bowie Estate. It draws on thousands of hours of film from the David Bowie Archive in New York, including rare performance footage, rarely heard interviews and never-before-seen material, and runs as a continuous multimedia collage from his childhood in Bromley to his death on 10 January 2016. The title comes from the ending of 'Rock 'n Roll Suicide', the final track on 1972's Ziggy Stardust, where Bowie screams the phrase.

Staged across the venue's 11-metre tall projected walls, the show is structured in thematic chapters on theatricality, spirituality, songwriting and creativity. The sound has been reconfigured by Olivier and Tony award winner Gareth Fry for the HOLOPLOT spatial audio system, in which Bowie's voice is the sole one heard. It's a large-scale projection piece rather than a traditional exhibition, so you're inside the imagery for the duration.
