Exclusive guided tour of Brown's Hotel led by its official historian, Andy Williamson, with a book and signed copy included.
Brown's Hotel is opening its doors for a small history tour on Saturday 31 October and Saturday 21 November, both from 10.00 to 11.30am. It's led by the hotel's official historian, Andy Williamson, and it's a proper look inside one of Mayfair's oldest luxury hotels, which dates back to 1832.
Williamson's work comes from original research into the buildings, the people, the scandals and the extraordinary events that have shaped London's grand hotels. The walk takes you into parts of the house not usually included in a public tour, and it leans on the remarkable characters connected with the place. Agatha Christie found inspiration here for At Bertram's Hotel; Rudyard Kipling spent his honeymoon under its roof; Alexander Graham Bell made Britain's first telephone call from the building; and Princess Diana dropped by for tea. It's a good way to see the hotel from the inside, with the stories that usually stay behind the scenes.
