Talk by fashion designer Roland Mouret about his career and his autobiography, followed by a wine reception and book sales.
Roland Mouret is speaking at the V&A South Kensington on Thursday 29 October, in the Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Lecture Theatre. It's a talk rather than a show, and it runs from 19:00 to 20:00, with the venue closing at 20:45.
Mouret is a French fashion designer and artist, and his story starts in a family boucherie in the rural Pyrenees back in the 1960s. He describes the moment he first draped fabric over a mannequin as the point he found his true passion, and from there he built his own iconic atelier, dressing film stars and royalty along the way. His work draws on modelling, styling and fashion school, all set against the edgy, glamorous backdrop of 1980s and 1990s Paris and London.
He's also the author of the autobiography I Am Roland Mouret (Quercus), which he'll be signing after the talk. The evening continues with a wine reception and book sales, so you can stick around after the talk to get your copy signed and have a drink. It's worth keeping in mind that the night sold out during priority booking, so it's one to keep an eye on if you're hoping to get in.
