Full-band solo show by Graham Coxon, guitarist of Blur, to mark the reissue of his solo back catalogue.
Graham Coxon plays the O2 Kentish Town Forum on Saturday 28 November, his first full-band solo gig in more than ten years. He's touring the UK in support of Castle Park, a ten-track solo album recorded back in 2011 with producer Ben Hillier. It was shelved at the time because of his other musical commitments, including the first Blur reunion, so it's taken fifteen years to actually reach the public. The record opens with the sixties-inspired 'Billy Says'.
Castle Park arrives as part of a wider reissue campaign for his entire solo back catalogue: nine studio albums and three original soundtracks. That's a lot of ground to cover, and the campaign kicks off with his debut The Sky Is Too High (1998) and 2000's The Golden D. The London date is billed as a special, full-band, career-spanning show, so the set should pull from across that whole run rather than sticking to the new material. It's a full band on stage, too, not just Coxon on his own.
Most people know him as the guitarist for Blur, and he's described himself as the band's 'most reluctant' rock star. This is a solo outing, though, and the full-band format is a return to how he used to do things before he spent so much time playing solo. Between the new album and the reissues, there's a fair bit of his solo work coming back into the light at once.
