Guided gin tasting and cocktail-making session at Mr Fogg's Victorian gin parlour in Covent Garden, on Saturdays and Sundays.
Mr Fogg's Gin Parlour in Covent Garden runs its Gin Safari every weekend afternoon, a guided tour through the gin, botanicals and tonics that make up its collection. The parlour is styled as the London home of the eccentric British adventurer Phileas J. Fogg, Esq., and it's a Victorian room with upholstered seating and antique trinkets on the walls, housing more than 200 gins, tonics and botanicals.
The house gin-thusiasts lead the way, walking you through the different gins, botanicals and tonics and showing you how to tell the flavours apart. You'll get to mix your own cocktail from the collection, and once you've finished, you're named a 'gin master'. It's a guided hunt through the shelves rather than a sit-down tasting, so you're on your feet and moving through the room.
There's more to the place than the safari. The parlour also has a Martini Room, a frozen cocktail experience where you pour your own martini from a -18°C freezer. Below that sits Mr Fogg's Tavern, a lively Victorian pub known for Cockney singalongs, live music and Sunday roasts, so if you're in the area for the afternoon, there's plenty to do around it.
