Behind-the-scenes walking tour of the Old Royal Naval College, the UK's number one heritage filming location, revealing the spots used in Bridgerton, The Crown and other period dramas.
Wigs, Weddings, Powder and Palaces is a behind-the-scenes walking tour at the Old Royal Naval College, and it's running on Saturday 17 October, Monday 19 October, Saturday 24 October and Monday 26 October, all starting at 11.30am. The tour takes you through the college to see where some of the period dramas you've probably watched were filmed, from Bridgerton and The Crown to Pirates of the Caribbean and Les Misérables.
The college itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site designed by Sir Christopher Wren, and it's one of the most filmed heritage sites in the UK. It's appeared in more than 200 productions, and the range is pretty wide: Bond and Bridgerton sit alongside Les Misérables and The Muppets. In 2025, it marked 100 years on screen and set a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as screen characters.
If you're a Bridgerton fan, there are two spots to keep in mind. The Chapel is where Colin and Penelope's wedding takes place, and Ranger's House doubles as the Bridgerton family home. The tour is part of a year-round programme of film tours the site runs, which sits alongside 'The Art of Location', their lecture series on screen settings.
