Stand-up show by Jo Brand about ageing, with dispatches from the second half of life, at the Hackney Empire.
Jo Brand brings her new stand-up show Decline and Falling Over to the Hackney Empire on Thursday 5 November, starting at 7:30pm. It's a solo set that runs about an hour and twenty minutes, with a twenty-minute interval in the middle, and it's for over-18s only.
Brand is a BAFTA-winning comedian and writer, and you've likely seen her on Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie to You and Taskmaster. She co-wrote Getting On, the comedy about the daily grind of a geriatric ward, and she's built her following on saying the things other people think but won't say aloud. Decline and Falling Over draws on dispatches from the second half of life: lying unconscious under a surgeon's knife, pharmacy staff who know you by name, and the joy of becoming an 'invisible' older woman. She says she'll be pondering how to age her own way, and she's clear that this isn't a 'life begins after menopause' pep talk.
