Free exhibition of the official Coronation Portrait of King Charles III by Dr Suan-Seh Foo, a Canadian provincial portrait, before it returns to Nova Scotia.
The Stern Pissarro Gallery is showing a large-scale Coronation Portrait of King Charles III from Monday 19 October to Saturday 31 October, at 66 St James's Street, London SW1A 1NE. It's a formal state portrait, and the London showing is a chance to see it before it's returned to Government House in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The painting is by Dr Suan-Seh Foo, a Toronto painter known for institutional portraits. It was commissioned by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia on behalf of the Government of Nova Scotia, and it's one of the few official portraits of the King painted for a Canadian province. Foo didn't work on it alone: the portrait was completed with the assistance of Ede and Ravenscroft in London and The Royal Regiment of Canada in Toronto.

Because it's a state portrait, it's a large-scale work, and seeing it in person gives you a better sense of its size than a reproduction ever could. The London run is a temporary stop on its way back across the Atlantic, so if you're around St James's in late October, this is your window to catch it here. Entry is free.
