Live concert by hardcore punk and metal band Converge, with special guests Sanguisugabogg, Blackbraid and Pupil Slicer, at Electric Brixton.
Converge play Electric Brixton on Sunday 22 November, with Sanguisugabogg, Blackbraid and Pupil Slicer opening for them. The show is presented by Born Again Concerts.
Converge are a Boston hardcore punk and metal band led by vocalist and lyricist Jacob Bannon, guitarist and producer Kurt Ballou, bassist and vocalist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Koller. They've been at it for more than three decades now, and over that time they've put out landmark records like 2001's Jane Doe and the 2021 collaboration Bloodmoon: I with Chelsea Wolfe. They're now in their 35th year, and they've just come off a run of two new albums: Love Is Not Enough (2025), which they billed as the apotheosis of their journey through punk, hardcore and metal, and Hum of the Hurt (2026), which they describe as rawer and more exposed than the one before it.
In interviews, Jacob Bannon has spoken about the 'Hum' — a mysterious real-world phenomenon the band re-imagined as a manifestation of human suffering — and about the realism he feels is missing from much of modern music. That's the kind of ground they've been working on lately, so the set should draw from these two recent records as much as the older material they're known for. With Sanguisugabogg, Blackbraid and Pupil Slicer on the bill, it's a full evening of heavy music rather than just a single band on stage.
