Festive variety show mixing the hall's carols, Christmas songs, festive comedy and a tap-dancing set, hosted by Vincent Hayes.
Brick Lane Music Hall is bringing back its festive variety show, Christmas Wonderland, from 19 November to 19 December. It's a celebration of festive joy, tradition and comedy, and it runs throughout the run-up to Christmas, so you've got a good few weeks to fit it in. The hall describes itself as the world's only permanent home for Music Hall, and this show leans into that: it's a variety night in the old-school sense, with a fully themed room to match.
The set mixes the hall's own carols with favourite Christmas songs, festive comedy and a musical medley inspired by a school nativity. There's also a Scottish festive medley and a tap-dancing set, and the whole thing is hosted by the venue's founder, Vincent Hayes, who was awarded an MBE in 2013 for services to British Music Hall. The rest of the cast includes Andrew Robley, Ross Tomlinson, Eirik Dahlen, Lucy Reed, Amy Pavitt, Harry Powell and Kate Macadam, with special guest Katie Lewis performing Tap About Town and Jordan Langford directing.
If you're not familiar with the venue, it's got a bit of a story. It started in the 1980s in the back room of a Bethnal Green pub before opening on Brick Lane in 1992 with the support of stars like Danny La Rue and Barbara Windsor. These days it's based in Silvertown, and Christmas Wonderland is one of the ways it keeps the spirit of early Music Hall nights alive.
