A dance marathon by Greek choreographer Chara Kotsali that explores the relationship between individual and collective history through dance, sound and poetry.
Chara Kotsali brings IT'S THE END OF THE AMUSEMENT PHASE to the Lilian Baylis Studio on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 January 2027, both nights starting at 7 pm. It's a dance marathon by the Greek choreographer and performer, part of The Rose Prize 2027, and it runs for about 40 minutes without an interval.
The piece pulls at the tangled relationship between individual and collective history. Kotsali describes progress as the most exhausting linear narrative, set against a history shaped by technological and social revolutions that never fully happened. Three female dancers interact on stage with the past that lies ahead and the future left behind, and the work frames progress as destruction, alongside dances of fun, pleasure and propaganda. It's a dance marathon in more than just name, and it brings together dance, sound and poetry to hold those ideas up.
Kotsali is a dance maker, performer and teacher based in Greece. She graduated from the Rallou Manou Professional School of Dance, where she now teaches contemporary dance, and she's performed at festivals like Onassis Dance Days, Aerowaves and ImPulsTanz. This is her work coming to the Lilian Baylis Studio as part of The Rose Prize.
