After-hours candlelit tour of the Barts North Wing, exploring its history and architecture in the candlelit building.
Barts Great Hall and Hogarth Stair are opening up the Barts North Wing for a candlelit tour on Tuesday 27 October, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. It's an after-hours walk through the North Wing of St Bartholomew's Hospital, so you'll be moving through the building while it's closed to the public. The tour starts and ends at the Great Hall and Hogarth Stair, in West Smithfield, London EC1A 7BE.
As you go, you'll pick up the history and architecture of the wing, along with a few mysterious, some might say spooky, connections. It's the kind of thing that works better by candlelight than in the fluorescent light of a working day, and since it runs after hours, you'll have the place to yourself rather than dodging staff and patients. The North Wing is usually off-limits, so this is one of the few times you can actually get inside and see it.
