Over-18s wine tasting evening of Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile, Argentina, New Zealand and Australia with seasonal canapés in a private dining room.
Cabernet Sauvignon Unlocked comes to Clarette in Marylebone on Thursday 12 November, a whole evening given over to the world's most iconic red grape. It's a tasting night rather than a quick flight, with generous pours in premium glassware and plenty of time to sit with each wine and pick out the nuances. Seasonal canapés come out throughout the evening, so you've got something to eat alongside the glasses.
The tasting takes you across the hemisphere, starting with the bold, structured expressions from Chile and Argentina, then moving on to the more vibrant, fruit-forward styles of New Zealand and Australia. It's a good way to see how the same grape changes depending on where it's grown. You'll have time to take notes, swap opinions with the people around you, and if you find something you really like, you can order a case to take home.
The night is run by Encountr, who specialise in small, personal evenings built on exceptional wines, good food and curious people. They describe their approach as focusing on care rather than novelty, and they keep things unpretentious. The whole thing takes place in an intimate private dining room on the second floor of Clarette, which is accessible by stairs only. It's an over-18s event, so you'll need a valid ID to get in.
