Wordless duet blending visual poetry, physical theatre and contemporary circus, part of the Voila! Theatre Festival.
Binary lives bring Dis Equilibre to The Cockpit from Wednesday 4 November, running through to Friday 6 November. It's a wordless duet that blends visual poetry, physical theatre and contemporary circus, and the whole thing is built around a single, familiar image: two strangers trapped on the same station bench, inventing increasingly absurd ways to fill the empty hours. It turns a transit space into a playground of balance, imagination and human connection, and because there's no dialogue, the story is told entirely through movement.
Dis Equilibre has a bit of a track record behind it. It won Best Direction at the Rome Fringe Festival, was selected for the Thessaloniki Fringe, and spent two years touring Italy. It's a piece that relies on the physical chemistry between the two performers rather than a script, so it works just as well if you're not a regular theatre-goer.
The show is part of the Voila! Theatre Festival, a multi-venue, panlingual fringe festival that brings border-busting theatre to London. The 2026 edition is a massive one: 102 shows in 60 languages by 450 artists across three weeks of performances, scratch nights, live streams and workshops. This year, challenge and change are in the spotlight, and the festival welcomes all languages, dialects, slang, patois and accents. The Stage described it as "an essential festival, platforming emerging artists and theatre that might be considered too political or uncomfortable for bigger venues."
