Co-directed by Sean Holmes and Charlie Josephine, this new Globe production of Shakespeare's comedy is a joyous folk-rock storm with live music.
As You Like It opens at Shakespeare's Globe on Sunday 18 October, running through to Sunday 25 October. It's a co-direction by Sean Holmes and Charlie Josephine, who've worked together on Pinocchio at the Globe, and the production is described as a bold new version bursting with lust, love and live music. One of the more unusual things about it: the company paints its own Forest of Arden live on stage at every performance.
On the cast, Lola Shalam takes on Rosalind, with Charlie Josephine playing Orlando, Gracie Oddie-James as Celia, Katherine Pearce as Jaques and Jonnie Broadbent as Touchstone. The music is by Louise Anna Duggan, Emma King and Beth Higham-Edwards, and critics have called the whole thing a joyous comedy and an infectious storm of folk rock. It's part of the Globe's 2026 summer season, which also includes Much Ado About Nothing and Pinocchio.
There are seven performances in total over the eight days. Sunday 18 October has a matinee at 1:00pm and an evening show at 6:30pm, with the matinee being a signed performance. Tuesday 20 October is at 7:30pm and is filmed. Wednesday 21 October is a 2:00pm matinee, and the remaining shows run Friday 23, Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October. Each performance runs 2 hours 40 minutes, including a 20-minute interval. If you're in town that weekend, there's also a guided tour of the Globe Theatre running from 18 to 20 October.
