Stand-up show by Greek comedian Alexandros Tsouvelas, known as 'Tsouvi', at the Troxy in Limehouse.
Alexandros Tsouvelas brings his stand-up to Troxy on Sunday 25 October, as part of a wider UK tour. The show is titled TSOUVELAS II and runs for about 90 minutes, with doors opening at 19:00 and the performance starting at 20:30.
Tsouvelas is one of Greece's most popular stand-up comedians, known to his audience as 'Tsouvi'. He grew up in Peristeri, west Athens, the son of a priest in a family from Arta, and studied at the International Hellenic University. He cut his teeth singing at village festivals before sports radio made his name through impressions of coaches, players, officials and reporters. From there he grew into an arena-scale act, selling out the 19,720 seats of the Telekom Center Athens in September.

His style relies on impressions, self-mockery, a fast pace and crowd work rather than a fixed script, with material drawn mostly from the neighbourhood and the family. He's particularly well known for his 'extraterrestrial' characters. The show mixes quick punchlines with longer stories, and the set is staged in Troxy's main hall, an art deco room built as a cinema in 1933. The venue is at 490 Commercial Road, London E1 0HX, in Limehouse, East London.
