Winter concert by the University of Liverpool Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Helen Harrison, showcasing the talent of the university's student musicians.
The University of Liverpool Symphony Orchestra play their Winter Concert at The Tung Auditorium on Sunday 29 November, starting at 4:00pm. It's a student orchestra, so the whole thing is built around the musicians studying at the university, and the programme is a mix of orchestral repertoire and some new work. The conductor is Helen Harrison, and this is her third performance with the orchestra.
It's a late-afternoon start, and the concert runs for about two and a half hours including an interval, so you'll be out well before dark. The Tung is on Brownlow Hill, right in the university's campus area. If you're arriving early, the Fröhlich Café Bar opens 90 minutes before the start and stays open through the interval, so there's plenty of time to grab a drink before you take your seat.

Tickets are £8 standard, and there's a concession price of £6.40 for over-65s, students, and those on JSA or Universal Credit. There's a booking fee on top of that, 9% for telephone or online bookings. A few things to keep in mind if you're bringing the family: the concert isn't likely suitable for children under 5, under-16s need to be accompanied by an adult, and under-10s aren't allowed on the balconies. With the 4:00pm start, it's a good one for a Sunday afternoon.
