Trevor Horn, producer of The Buggles, Yes and Art of Noise, plays the Music Room at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
Trevor Horn is playing the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Tuesday 3 November, with the night billed as Trevor Horn & His Band. It's a spoken word evening, so you'll be hearing him talk as much as you'll be hearing music. The show starts at 20:00 in the Music Room, one of the smaller spaces inside the Philharmonic, which keeps things a bit more intimate than the main hall.
If you're not familiar with the name, Horn is one of the most successful and innovative producers to come out of the UK, often described as 'the man who invented the eighties'. He started as a bassist born in Durham and first made his mark as a member of The Buggles, Yes and Art of Noise. From there, he built a production career that touches a huge range of artists: Paul McCartney, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Tom Jones, Cher, Grace Jones, Seal, Tina Turner, Lisa Stansfield, Pet Shop Boys, Simple Minds and Mike Oldfield. That's a lot of different sounds coming from one desk, and it's a good way to see just how much of the pop music we've lived with over the last few decades he had a hand in.

This date is part of a wider tour, so if you can't make the Tuesday, there's another Liverpool show coming up on Thursday 10 December at the O2 Academy. Between the two, you've got a choice of a smaller room at the Philharmonic or a proper academy gig, and they're about five weeks apart, so you could even catch him twice if you're that keen. The Philharmonic date is the earlier one, on Tuesday 3 November at 20:00 in the Music Room.
