Irish country-folk band The Tumbling Paddies play the O2 Academy Liverpool on their UK tour, with versions of Irish anthems.
The Tumbling Paddies play O2 Academy Liverpool on Friday 23 October, part of a UK tour that also stops in Leicester, Manchester, Birmingham and London. They're a six-piece from County Fermanagh in Ireland, and their sound sits right where traditional Irish folk meets modern country, a mix they call Trad/Pop.
That description covers a fair bit of ground. The line-up blends traditional instruments with contemporary pop and rock, and they switch between English and Irish throughout the set. They even throw in rap, so it's not exactly your standard folk night. A good deal of the songs are written by frontman Gareth Maguire, with production support from Irish country singer Derek Ryan. They released the single Closing Time in October 2025, and that's among the newer material they'll be playing.
They're known as one of Ireland's most popular music acts, and they describe their live show as exuberant and energy-filled, with the crowd dancing and singing along to Irish anthems. Among those are their own versions of Dirty Old Town, Fields of Athenry and Zombie.
