The Real Thing, Britain's longest-established black group, play their 'A Brand New Day' tour with special guests Odyssey at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.
The Real Thing play the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Friday 30 October, with the show starting at 19:30. They're touring A Brand New Day, their first album of original material in 44 years, and the set includes the new soulful single 'Hang On Never Let Go'. There's also a live version of 'Children of the Ghetto', a composition covered by Courtney Pine, Paul Hardcastle, Mart J Bligh and Philip Bailey, and recorded for the first time with lead vocals by Chris Amoo.
They're performing with original vocalists Chris Amoo and Dave Smith and a live five-piece band. The group formed in 1972 and describes itself as Britain's longest-established and best-loved black group in UK entertainment history. They made their mark in the 1970s and 1980s with three Top 10 singles, including the number one 'You To Me Are Everything', alongside 'Can't Get By Without You' and 'Can You Feel The Force' — songs that still get daily airplay on UK radio and gather around two million monthly plays on Spotify. 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of that number one record.
