The Lightning Seeds play a one-off hometown Christmas show at the O2 Academy Liverpool with a career-spanning set of fan favourites.
The Lightning Seeds are back at the O2 Academy on Friday 18 December, a one-off hometown Christmas show that sits within an eight-date tour. The set is a career-spanning one, pulling from the fan favourites that have run through the band's years rather than focusing on a single record.
Behind the name is Ian Broudie, who writes, sings, plays guitar and produces. He came out of the post-punk Liverpool scene of the late seventies, playing in Big in Japan before moving into production, starting with Echo & The Bunnymen. The Lightning Seeds arrived in 1989 with the debut album Cloudcukooland, which gave us the hit single 'Pure'. That was followed by Sense and the seminal 1994 album Jollification, which has sold nearly a million copies. In 1996, the band recorded '3 Lions' for the England football team, a single that topped the charts many times over, and later released Dizzy Heights and 1999's Tilt to critical acclaim. Broudie eventually returned to his producer roots, shaping albums for The Coral, The Zutons and many more.
