Film-with-live-orchestra concert screening of 'The Holiday' with its score by Hans Zimmer performed by a full concert orchestra.
The Holiday in Concert comes to Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Monday 30 November, part of an 18-date UK tour running through November and December. It's the 2006 Christmas romcom The Holiday played out with a full concert orchestra performing the score live alongside the film, which runs on an HD cinema-size screen.
If you're not familiar with the movie, it's the one where two women — one in England, one in America — swap homes for the Christmas holidays and end up crossing paths with two men they weren't expecting. It was written, directed and produced by Nancy Meyers, and stars Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black. The score was written by Hans Zimmer, and that's the part the orchestra takes over on the night, playing the music live as the film rolls.
It's a festive favourite that's built up a following with families and film and music lovers alike, and it's not its first time on the road — it followed a sell-out run last Christmas. The Liverpool date is one stop on a tour that hits 18 venues across the UK over two months, so it's one of several chances to catch it if you're around during the run.
