Outdoor Halloween evening with two professional fire instructors and a fire photoshoot by photographer Tommy Wong at Sefton Park.
The Halloween Fire Experience takes place at Sefton Park on Wednesday 28 October, starting at 18:30. It's an outdoor session run as part of the Bring The Fire Project, and the whole evening is built around learning to move and play with fire under the guidance of two professional fire instructors. They'll be there to walk you through the basics, so you can get a feel for how to handle it safely before you start moving with it.
Once you've found your feet, there's a creative side to the night. You'll have the chance to put together a dramatic Halloween look, and then a professional fire photographer, Tommy Wong — described as one of the best fire photographers in the UK — will be on hand to take your photos. The combination of the fire, the costume, and the setting is what the evening is really about.
That setting is a big part of it, too. Sefton Park is one of Liverpool's great parks and one of the city's most haunted locations, and the session leans into that atmosphere. It's an outdoor event, so you'll be out in the park rather than in a studio or a hall. Because you're working with fire, there are a few safety things to keep in mind: hair should be tied back or covered, and natural fabrics like cotton, jeans or leather are recommended over synthetics. The exact spot in the park is revealed when you book, so you'll know exactly where to head on the night.
