Grammy-nominated house DJ and producer Todd Terry plays a three-hour set at the Sefton Park Palm House.
Todd Terry is playing a special set at the Sefton Park Palm House on Friday 30 October, with the night starting at 7pm. It's a one-night thing, and he's taking the full three hours himself rather than splitting the bill with a supporting act.
If you're not familiar with the name, Terry is a Grammy Award-nominated DJ and producer who's been a fixture of the house scene for decades. He's known for that classic New York sound — heavy on the groove and the swing — and he's worked across house, garage and dance music since the late eighties. A three-hour set gives him plenty of room to work through his record bag, and because he's the only name on the bill, he's got the whole evening to build the night from the first record to the last.
The setting is part of the draw here. The Palm House is a grade II listed building in Sefton Park, and the set is played underneath the palm trees, so you're dancing inside a Victorian greenhouse rather than a dark club. It's an intimate crowd, too, which changes the feel of a house set — you're closer to the decks and the people around you than you'd be in a proper warehouse or a big city venue.
