The Comedy Roast!

The Comedy Roast! is at Hot Water Comedy Club on Sunday 17 October, with six comedians trading insults and jokes in a satirical roast show mocking comedians and celebrities. It's a competitive set-up: six competitors face off against each other and a panel of judges, swapping the darkest jokes and most brutal insults they can come up with. There's a special guest to be announced, so that's one more name to look out for as the date gets closer.

If you're not familiar with the format, it's a roast in the truest sense. The comedians take turns taking each other down, and nothing is off limits. It's aimed at audiences who like their comedy closer to the knuckle, and the show carries a warning that it's likely to feature offensive jokes and themes. If you prefer your stand-up a bit more polite, this probably isn't the one for you.

Hot Water Comedy is based here in Liverpool and runs two award-winning, purpose-built comedy venues in the city. Its home at Blackstock Market is a 589-seat auditorium, and it sits alongside Wally's Room, which holds 227, and The Barn, with 147 seats. Between them they stage some of the best regular live stand-up in the city, and the venue's mascot is Wally Water. The Comedy Roast is just one of the nights they put on.

The show starts at 17:00, with doors open from 15:30 and things wrapping up by 19:00. It's free to attend, with free tickets priced at £0.00, though a guaranteed entry ticket costs £5.00 if you'd rather not leave your seat to chance. You'll find it at Hot Water Comedy Club, Blackstock Market, 17 Blackstock Street, Liverpool L3 6ER.
