Comedy roast night where comedians trade the darkest jokes and insults in a tournament format, with the room deciding the winner.
The Comedy Roast is back at Hot Water Comedy Club on Sunday 10 October, part of a long-running tournament that takes place across the city. It's not your usual stand-up night: instead of a series of separate acts, comedians face off in pairs, trading the most brutal insults and darkest jokes they can come up with. There's nothing off limits, and the room decides who wins each battle.
That's just one night of it, though. The whole thing is set up as a tournament: 96 battles spread over 13 weeks, with the heats running weekly on Sundays. It all builds towards a grand final in September, where the winner takes home a £1,000 cash prize and a trophy. If you're into the competitive side of things, you can follow the progress from the early rounds right through to the end.
The night is run by Hot Water Comedy Club, which operates two award-winning, purpose-built venues in Liverpool. It's a show for audiences who like their comedy closer to the knuckle, and the organisers do include a warning that it's likely to feature offensive jokes and themes, so it's worth keeping in mind before you book.

It runs at Hot Water Comedy Club at Blackstock Market, 17 Blackstock Street, L3 6ER. Doors open at 15:30, the show starts at 17:00, and it wraps up by 19:00. It's free to attend, with free tickets available for £0.00, though a guaranteed entry ticket costs £5.00.
