Intimate Christmas storytime with Father Christmas and Buddy the Elf for children aged 2 to 10, with each child getting a turn to share their Christmas wishes with Santa.
Father Christmas and his friend Buddy the Elf are taking over Liverpool Town Hall this December for Story Time with Santa, a series of festive sessions for children aged 2 to 10. The two of them spend the hour sharing magical stories and singing a song or two in the cosy setting of the Town Hall, and it's billed as an intimate family experience rather than a big, loud show.
Each session lasts around 45 minutes to an hour and is capped at 20 children, which is the key part: it's small enough that every child gets a turn to share their Christmas wishes with Santa and goes home with a special gift. One adult is free with every child ticket, and babies in arms are free with a paying child, so it's a straightforward trip for the whole family.
The venue itself is worth a mention. Liverpool Town Hall on High Street is a late Georgian Grade I listed building dating from 1749-1754, and it's the home of the Lord Mayor of Liverpool. It's a proper piece of the city's history, and having the sessions there adds a bit of occasion to the whole thing.

It's not just a one-off, either. The sessions run from 5 to 24 December, with dates on 5-6, 12-13, 18-22, and 24 December. If you're looking for something a bit calmer, there are quiet sessions on 5, 12, 19, and 20 December. Tickets range from £5.00 to £27.00, with most dates coming in at up to £25.00. It's part of a wider festive programme at Liverpool City Halls that brings back the traditions most of us grew up with: lantern-lit carols, family theatre, festive concerts, and Santa visits.
