Scottish traditional singer Siobhan Miller brings her blend of traditional song, indie and alternative sounds to the Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room.
Siobhan Miller plays the Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room on Sunday 8 November, starting at 8:00 PM. She's one of Scotland's foremost singers, known for a soulful renewal of traditional song and a vocal style that pairs evocative songwriting with indie and alternative sounds.
She grew up in a musical family, immersed in traditional song from a young age and learning from many of Scotland's finest source singers. That background sits right at the heart of her work, even when she's pulling in those indie and alternative textures. In 2018, she won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Traditional Track, and she's the only three-time winner of Scots Singer of the Year at the BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards.
Her solo albums—Flight of Time (2015), Strata (2017), and Mercury (2018)—were all nominated for Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Awards. Mercury was her first record of entirely original material, and it's a good place to start if you're coming to her work for the first time. Beyond her solo records, she's collaborated with many of Scotland's top musicians, appeared with the National Theatre of Scotland, staged a run on Broadway, and played the US/UK drama Outlander. Her recording of 'The Ramblin' Rover' has passed 11 million streams worldwide.
