Charter lecture by Professor Sir Andrew Morris on health care in the information age, the final lecture of the 2026 Science & Society series.
Professor Sir Andrew Morris CBE is coming to the University of Liverpool Foundation Building on Tuesday 3 November for a charter lecture on health care in the information age. It's the final talk of the 2026 Science & Society lecture series, so it's the one that closes out the whole run.
Morris is the inaugural Director of Health Data Research UK, and he's also Professor of Medicine and Vice Principal of Data Science at the University of Edinburgh, where he holds an honorary consultant physician post in NHS Lothian. He was elected President of the Academy of Medical Sciences in April 2024, and in early 2025 he joined the Board of Trustees at A*STAR, Singapore's lead public sector research and development agency. Before that, he was Chief Scientist at the Scottish Government Health Directorate from 2012 to 2017, and he's published more than 350 original papers.
He co-founded Aridhia Informatics in 2007, was awarded a CBE in 2018 and The Royal Society of Edinburgh Medal in 2023, and is a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Academy of Medical Sciences. The lecture is part of the Science & Society series, which looks at the intersection of scientific research and the wider social world.
