Stand-up show 'Mars', Sam Serrano's debut tour, turning a 2020 hate crime into a dark, self-deprecating comedy hour.
Sam Serrano brings their debut tour, Mars, to Blackstock Market on Saturday 24 October. It's a full hour of stand-up, and they aren't coming alone — tour support comes from Tom Stade, Brennan Reece and Stephen Bailey, so you'll get a few different acts on the bill before the main set.
Mars is built around a hate crime Sam was the victim of in 2020. They've taken that experience and turned it into a comedy hour about what it means to be unapologetically yourself, where bigotry comes from, and how experiencing hatred can make you a stronger person. It's a heavy starting point, but the comedy is self-deprecating and dark, and there are a fair few penis jokes mixed in. Critics have described Sam as one of the most unique voices in recent years, a 'game changer of an act' who puts the 'X' in 'X Factor'.
Sam's been performing since they were 17. In 2018, they came second in the Great Yorkshire Fringe Comedian Of The Year competition and were a finalist in the Bury MET comedian of the year. If you've seen them on Comedy Central or Dave, this is a chance to catch them live with a full hour of their own material.
