LGBTQ+ creative writing session facilitated by poet Jeremy Dixon, with a 'Queer Gothic' workshop and peer feedback.
Queer the Page is back at the Quakers Meeting House on Saturday 24 October, from 1 pm to 3 pm. This session is all about the Gothic, with published poet Jeremy Dixon facilitating a 'Queer Gothic' writing workshop. The afternoon does two things at once: there's a reading of prepared work for peer feedback, and then a workshop that asks you to pick your favourite gothic monster and imagine it attending Pride or visiting a queer venue. If you've got something you've been working on, you can bring it along and get it read; if you're just coming for the writing part, that works too.
For a bit of context, Queer the Page is a Merseyside LGBTQ+ creative writing group for over-18s, run by Steve (Steven Benson). It's a safer space, open to LGBTQ+ writers of any genre and any level of experience—whether you've been writing for years, have just come out, or've only recently moved to the area. Steve describes his feedback as constructive and developmental rather than course-like, so it's more about helping you move forward with your work than being graded on it. The group is explicitly trans-affirmative, with a firm no-tolerance stance on gender-critical views, and AI writing apps aren't allowed. If you're looking for more specialist support, they signpost members to Sahir House. The Quakers Meeting House is a sober space, so no alcohol is sold or allowed inside.

It's a regular thing, too—the group meets the fourth Saturday of each month, so if this one doesn't quite fit, there'll be another soon. This session runs from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Quakers (Friends') Meeting House, 22 School Lane, Liverpool L1 3BT. It costs £6 per attendee, payable to the organiser at the start in cash or by bank transfer.
