Tasting of six premium Greek wines with cheese and Greek gyros pairings, led by Koul Agency, for adults 18+.
Koul Agency are hosting a premium Greek wine tasting at Meat Me Berry Street on Friday 23 October, from 7pm to 9pm. Doors open at 6:50pm, so you've got a few minutes to get settled before things kick off.
There are six wines on the table, all from Greece. You'll start with the Theopetra Estate Aprilis Sparkling Rosé, then move into the Argyrakis Wines range from Naoussa: the Áti White, Áti Rosé, Áti Red, and Chronos. The final pour is the Domaine Zacharioudakis Victoria Rosé from Crete. That's a fair spread to work through in two hours, and it takes you from sparkling and fresh whites through to the more characterful reds.
Koul Agency lead the evening, talking you through the stories behind the grapes, the wineries, and the regions. There's a particular focus on indigenous varieties like Xinomavro, and on the different expressions of modern Greek winemaking—from that sparkling rosé and the fresh whites to the expressive rosés and the reds. Small cheese and Greek gyros pairings accompany the tasting, chosen to complement the wines rather than turn the whole thing into a full meal. You don't need any previous wine knowledge to get out of this; it's pitched as a relaxed chance to taste, ask questions, and discover something a bit different.
