Open-air Christmas ice rink by Underbelly on St George's Plateau, with a Christmas market, rooftop bar and festive attractions.
Skate St George's opens at St George's Plateau on Saturday 21 November, bringing an open-air ice rink to the city centre for the winter. It runs daily until Sunday 3 January, closed only on Christmas Day, so you've got a good six weeks to fit it in. The rink itself is 675 square feet, set right against the backdrop of St George's Hall, which is one of the city's most recognisable spots.
It's the first time Underbelly's 'Skate' experience has come to Liverpool; they also run it at London's Leicester Square and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Beyond the skating, there's a rooftop bar serving mulled wine, hot chocolate and something sparkling, and a Christmas market with local traders. There are a few other attractions on site too: a Big Wheel, a Christmas Tree Maze, a Santa Train and a carousel. The whole thing is about a five-minute walk from Lime Street Station, so it's easy to get to if you're coming in from outside the centre.

Underbelly also works with the local community on creative and sustainable initiatives, with the aim of leaving something positive behind once the event wraps up. It's free to visit the site, so you can wander around the market and the attractions without spending a penny. The ice rink and selected attractions start from £11.50 for adults and £10 for children, with family tickets from £38. Standard opening hours are 10am to 10pm, with the first skating session at 10:15am and the last at 9:15pm.
