A day-long playwriting and performance session for young people aged 11 to 16 to write, rehearse and perform a Halloween-themed play.
Play in a Day is back at 1 Tithebarn Street on Monday 26 October, and this time it's all about Halloween. It's an in-person session for young people aged 11 to 16, and the whole thing is built around a Halloween theme. The premise is exactly what the name says: participants write, rehearse and perform a play in a single day.
That's the core of it, but the day doesn't stop there. The format is designed to suit everyone from first-time drama newcomers to seasoned young actors, so it doesn't matter if they've never stepped foot on a stage before or if they're already comfortable in front of an audience. The acting and writing are rounded out with spooky games and activities to keep the energy up between the more focused work. It's as much about the process as it is about the performance.
Since it's a full day, there are a few practical things to sort. Attendees need to bring a packed lunch, snacks and a bottle of water. There's a strict no-nuts policy, so keep that in mind when packing. Fruit and water are provided throughout the day, so they'll be looked after on the basics. It's a long stretch, so coming prepared makes the difference.
