Stand-up show by Scarborough comedian Paddy Young, who has taken three shows to the Edinburgh Fringe and hosted Saturday Night Live UK.
Paddy Young brings his show Will Sir Be Laughing Alone? to Hot Water Comedy Club on Sunday 6 December. It's a solo stand-up set, and if you've never seen him before, it's a good place to start.
Young is a Scarborough stand-up who cut his teeth in Manchester before moving to London. He's taken three shows to the Edinburgh Fringe, and he's built up a screen following with roles in Timewasters (ITV2), Random Acts (Channel 4) and Dive In & Do It (Sky). He also hosted the Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live UK and appeared in Everyone Else Burns and Mitchell & Webb Are Not Helping. His own special, Hungry. Horny. Scared., came out of that same period.
That special follows a string of romantic disasters, and it's where he earned his reputation as one of British comedy's most intriguing new voices. Steve Bennett of Chortle described him as distinctive, spontaneously witty and cleverly scripted — a fair summary of the kind of thing you can expect from his live work. Will Sir Be Laughing Alone? sits in that same territory: sharp writing and a natural, conversational delivery.
