The Olivier Award-winning musical about the secret 1943 mission that helped win World War II, on its UK leg of the world tour.
Operation Mincemeat arrives at the Liverpool Empire on Tuesday 5 October 2027, with the production staying in town through Saturday 9 October. It's the UK leg of its world tour, and the Liverpool run is just one of the stops on the way.
If you haven't come across it yet, the show is based on a true story from 1943. It follows the secret mission that helped win the Second World War, and the way it's put together is half the fun: a dead body, a fake love letter, and Ian Fleming — yes, the James Bond author — all thrown into the same plot. It's described as a fast-paced, hilarious tale, and the whole thing is told in song.
It's not a new arrival to the stage, though. It won the Olivier for Best New Musical in 2024 and went on to a Tony nomination on Broadway. It's also built up a bit of a reputation for its reviews, with 161 five-star reviews to its name, which puts it in the company of the best-reviewed shows in West End history. So by the time it reaches Lime Street, it's a well-travelled production.
