Nish Kumar: Angry Humour From a Really Nice Guy

Nish Kumar brings his stand-up show Angry Humour From a Really Nice Guy to the Everyman Theatre on Thursday 12 November. It's presented by Plosive Live in association with PBJ Management, and it's playing in the Playhouse Studio, part of the Everyman & Playhouse Theatres on Williamson Square.

If you've come across his name but aren't sure where to place him, Kumar is billed as the UK's leading political comic and co-hosts the Pod Save the UK podcast. He's also the former host of the axed BBC show The Mash Report and one of Taskmaster's most famous losers. Now 40, he was named one of the 50 Best Comedians of the 21st Century by both The Guardian and The Telegraph, and his previous tour played to sold-out crowds across the UK, North America, Australasia and mainland Europe. The Guardian has called him 'the pre-eminent comic political polemicist of our time', and critics have compared him to the ferocious comic Bill Hicks.

That's a fair bit of weight behind the name, and the title Angry Humour From a Really Nice Guy points to exactly where the show sits: political anger delivered with a certain kind of charm. If you've seen him on Taskmaster, you'll know the 'nice guy' part; the 'angry humour' is the political side he's built his reputation on.

Tickets are £27, and the show is for audiences aged 14 and over, with strong language throughout. It's on Thursday 12 November at the Playhouse Studio, Williamson Square.
