Annual Black History Month event with panel and performance celebrating contributions to the community, presented by Black Stage Pass.
More Than Words returns to the Everyman Theatre on Thursday 22 October, the theatre's annual Black History Month event. It's presented by Black Stage Pass, and the night brings together guest speakers and a line-up of performers to celebrate contributions to the community. The whole thing runs for two and a half hours, so it's a proper evening rather than a quick stop-in.
It's held downstairs at the Everyman, at 5-11 Hope Street, L1 9BH. If you've been to the theatre before, you'll know the spot, but it's worth keeping in mind it's the downstairs space rather than the main house. The evening is built around two halves: the panel, where guest speakers talk through the themes of the night, and the performance, which brings in a line-up of performers to take over the stage. Both parts are tied together by the same focus on Black history and the contributions being celebrated.

Because it's an annual event, it's one of the Everyman's regular fixtures for Black History Month, and this year's edition is put on by Black Stage Pass. The two-and-a-half-hour runtime means there's plenty of room for both the conversation and the performances to have their own space, rather than one being squeezed in around the other. It's a full night's programme, starting with the panel and moving into the performances, all under one roof on Hope Street.
