The West End and Broadway musical Million Dollar Quartet, starring Darren Day, celebrates the legendary 1956 rock'n'roll jam session.
Million Dollar Quartet runs at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse Theatres from Tuesday 9 to Saturday 13 February 2027. It's a musical that looks back at one particular night: 4 December 1956, when Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley all ended up in the same Memphis recording studio for a jam session that helped set the course for rock'n'roll. The show brings more than 20 hit songs to the stage, including 'Blue Suede Shoes', 'Fever', 'Walk The Line', 'Hound Dog' and 'Great Balls of Fire'.
Darren Day takes the role of Sam Phillips, the producer who ran the studio and whose vision helped shape the sound of the era. The story is framed around him, so you see the session through his eyes rather than just as a concert. It's a three-time Tony Award nominee, and the whole thing runs for two hours plus an interval, with a recommended age of 11 and over.
