Christmas concert by the Liverpool Cathedral Choir with the brass of the Liverpool Concert Orchestra, mixing festive works and carols.
The Liverpool Cathedral Choir are back in the Main Cathedral on Saturday 19 December, their second year running for this Christmas concert. It's a mid-afternoon one, running from 15:00 to 16:30, so you're out well before dark.
The choir isn't on its own this time; they're joined by the brass of the Liverpool Concert Orchestra, and the whole thing is built around the Cathedral's acoustics. The programme mixes festive works with well-known congregational carols that the audience is invited to sing along to, carried by the brass. It's framed as an experience of Christmas through music, reflection and community, rather than a performance you just sit and watch.
It's also a fundraising event for Liverpool Cathedral (charity number 1205970), with all proceeds supporting the Cathedral's mission and ministry. If you're coming from across the city, it's worth arriving a bit early — the organisers ask that everyone is seated by 14:45. Before the music starts, teas, coffees, mulled wine and mince pies are available from the Welsford Bistro, so there's plenty of time to get sorted before the choir takes over.
