Family workshop in which children design and decorate a lantern for the Canal of Light community walk.
Light The Way is a family workshop running at Kingsley and Co on Saturday 17 October, and it's more than just a one-off session. It's put on by Kingsley and Co together with Ykids, and it feeds into the Canal of Light community walk, which takes place a week later on Saturday 24 October. The two go hand in hand: children design and decorate their own lantern during the workshop, and then carry it along the canal on the walk. If you're planning to do the walk, this is where you get your lantern sorted.
Both Ykids and Kingsley and Co are Learning Destinations for Children's University, so if you're coming with a Passport to Learning, you can get it stamped after the session. The workshop is recommended for ages five and over, though younger children are welcome as long as an adult is there to help them. Every child needs to be accompanied by at least one adult, so it's a proper family outing rather than a drop-off.
There's a bit of a bonus for attending, too: you'll get a £5 voucher after the session. One thing to keep in mind is that arrivals more than five minutes after the start may not be admitted, so it's worth getting there a few minutes early to make sure you don't miss out.
