Night of stand-up and soul music headlined by Josh Jones, with singer Grace Curran, at the Liverpool Irish Centre.
Laughter & Soul is at the Liverpool Irish Centre on Saturday 21 November, a night that puts comedy and soul music on the same bill. It's hosted by Mark Devine, a regular MC on the Liverpool comedy circuit and the resident host at the Irish Centre, who has shared bills with Mike Rice, Phil Ellis and Hatty Preston.
The headliner is Josh Jones, a Mancunian comic who's built a strong reputation across the North-West in recent years. He was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards for his sell-out show Waste of Space, followed by another sell-out Fringe run with Gobsmacked. He was also a BBC New Comedy Award finalist and later returned to the award as a judge on BBC Three. On TV, he's appeared on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, The Jonathan Ross Show, Would I Lie to You and The Graham Norton Show.
Between the comedy sets, Grace Curran takes over on vocals. She works through Motown classics and 60s favourites alongside some of today's biggest hits, so the music side of the night covers a fair bit of ground. The comedy line-up is just as full: Tom McSharry opens the night, and EL Purnell, Kevin Jackson and Mark Williamson all bring their own sets to the bill.

It runs from 7 pm to 11:45 pm, with doors opening at 6:45 pm, so there's plenty of room for both the music and the stand-up. Tickets go from £9.38 to £16.42 via Eventbrite, and under-16s are admitted with a parent or legal guardian. The venue is the Liverpool Irish Centre, 6 Boundary Lane, L6 5JG.
