Workshop led by Hannah in which participants break and mend a ceramic heart with gold lacquer, paint a second heart and finish with a journaling ritual.
Hannah is leading a kintsugi workshop at Jennifer Green Health and Wellness on Sunday 6 December, from 10:30 for ninety minutes. It's held in Green's wellness studio at 615 Smithdown Road, L15 5AG.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer, and the workshop uses it as a metaphor for resilience and the beauty of repair in ourselves. The session is built around that idea: you break a ceramic heart and then mend it with gold lacquer, and you paint a second heart alongside it. The two pieces are meant to sit together as keepsakes you take home.
It's more than just the craft, though. The session includes a private journalling exercise, a ritual, and a meditation, so there's a fair bit of quiet, reflective time woven in between the making. The whole thing is framed as a way of working through the idea of healing and embracing imperfections, rather than just a pottery class.
