Touring musical in which an ensemble of rockstars performs the iconic songs of the original Live Aid concert.
Just For One Day: The Live Aid Musical comes to the Liverpool Empire from Tuesday 3 to Saturday 7 August 2027. It's an Olivier-nominated show that brings the original Live Aid concert to the theatre, billed as a completely new staging of the gig that re-wrote music history. Jamie Wilson Productions is behind it, and it's performed by an ensemble of rockstars rather than a single lead.
The set is built around the most iconic songs from that day, with the ensemble taking on the parts of Bob Dylan, David Bowie, The Who, U2, Queen, Madonna, Sting, Elton John, Paul McCartney and Diana Ross. It's a long list of names to cover in one go, and the show works by having the cast step into those roles to run through the songs that defined the original concert.
It's already had its run in the West End, where the Daily Mail called it 'joyous and emotionally volcanic' and Bob Geldof described it as 'f***ing phenomenal'. The production has raised over £1.6 million through its support of the Band Aid Trust, and there's an official cast album available if you want to hear the songs before you see them live. The Liverpool run is part of a UK and Ireland tour that kicks off in March 2027, so this is one of its first stops on the road.
