Joe Lycett

Joe Lycett is coming to the Liverpool Empire on Thursday 20 January 2028, with an all-new live show that he describes as completely 'unleashed'. If you've followed his work, you'll know he's not exactly a conventional stand-up; he's built a reputation as one of Britain's funniest and most unpredictable comedians, and this is a fresh run of material rather than a repeat of something he's done before.

He first made headlines in February 2020 when he briefly changed his name to Hugo Boss to protest the clothing brand's litigious reputation—a joke that stuck, and he's still widely known as Joe Lycett (formerly Hugo Boss). His comedy career started at Manchester University, where he won the Chortle Student Comedy Award in 2009, and since then he's moved from the circuit into some of the biggest names on the telly: 8 Out of 10 Cats, Taskmaster and QI.

Beyond the panel shows, he's got a couple of his own projects. There's Joe Lycett's Got Your Back on Channel 4, a consumer-comedy hybrid where he takes on companies on behalf of the public, and he also presents The Great British Sewing Bee on BBC Two. The critics have been on board too—The Guardian called him an 'intensely charming and talented young comic', and Time Out listed him as one of the strongest emerging comedy talents of his time.

It's a single night at the Liverpool Empire, starting at 7:30pm. Tickets start from £36.74 and are sold by ATG Tickets.
