A workshop introducing the fundamentals of clowning, a form of physical theatre, led by Simone Tani.
Simone Tani is running an introduction to the theatrical clown at Unity Theatre on Tuesday 20 October, starting at 6pm. It's part of the Creative'Pool workshop series, and the session is for ages 16 and over. One thing to keep in mind: it's held over two evenings, Tuesday 13 October and Tuesday 20 October, and one ticket covers both sessions.
The workshop introduces the fundamentals of clowning, a form of physical theatre that celebrates playfulness, connection with the audience, and following creative impulses. It's all practical, built around exercises and games rather than theory, so you'll be on your feet and doing rather than just listening.
Simone Tani leads the sessions. He's a graduate of École Philippe Gaulier and has worked in theatre for over 20 years, specialising in mask work, clown, and improvisation. He's also a co-founder of Teatro Pomodoro, which picked up a Nordic Fringe Network Award at the Brighton Fringe in 2017, and i Bugiardini, which took home a Sell-Out Award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014. Beyond the stage, he's taught workshops at the University of Chester, National Taiwan University of Arts, LIPA, and Hong Kong Baptist University.
